Dorset paintings by artist Stella Dunkley
Summer’s nearly over but spent a few hot(ish) days and evenings on the beach with the camera and sketchbook, so I have lots of inspiration for some new Dorset paintings to complete back in the studio over the coming winter months!
This Dorset painting above “Dorset Twilight” was done a few years ago, based on our nearest beach at Hengistbury Head, it was a lovely peaceful warm evening on the beach, the sun has set and the colours of twilight create a warm glow in the sky, with the sea breaks jutting out into the sea, gentle waves lapping the shore, and bournemouth town in the distance, the colours are: blues, mauves and yellows, its oil on canvas, 76 x 30 cm
Above is an original oil on canvas Impressionistic Dorset painting titled “Ruby Sunset” an atmospheric peaceful scene, with a boat moored and reflections in the water below, and the last rays of the sun sinking below the ruby red horizon, you can see a larger photo of this piece on my website, click on the image to see the details, its 100 x 30 x 2cm, unframed with painted edges, you can hang it without a frame as the edges are painted, the dominant colours are: brown, red, orange and yellow, its signed on the front and includes a certificate of authenticity
